Atomic Secrets

“Atomic Secrets” follows Ukrainian scientist Dmitry Kalmykov as he educates Kazakh schoolchildren about the legacy of Soviet nuclear testing at Semipalatinsk. Decades after the last explosion, the region is still uncovering radiation’s hidden toll. Against the backdrop of wars, the film captures an urgent intergenerational conversation about Kazakhstan’s nuclear past—and its uncertain future.
