“Women of Slender Means” follows five of the 300 women living at a YWCA in Brooklyn, NY. Frances Charlton, a World War II Women’s Army Corp veteran; Ann Thompson, a local community activist, who worked at the infamous Willowbrook State School; Mary Dixon, raised by nuns in a Long Island orphanage twice burned to the ground by the Ku Klux Klan; Cheryl Dupris, member of the Sioux Nation and veteran of the 82nd Airborne; and Wendy Davis, born into extreme privilege and a survivor of violent abuse.
